Divine Reminders in Simplistic Illustrations

We live in a world where it is almost easier to comment or “like” in isolation, rather than have conversation or community together.  It is sometimes easy to forget simple revelations that were taught through the message of the Gospel of Jesus. I am here to simply encourage you to stop what you are doing, slow down, and remember just that.  The message of the gospel is GOOD NEWS.  Also, I would like to take a moment to look at the example that Jesus gave us in His word of how He communicated with the people around Him, and that what He taught or communicated about was done in the beautiful painting of community. It wasn’t so much about following a list of rules of do’s and dont’s but it was more about living together in community, finding a need and meeting it, and living the message of love in every day activities.

Now, I recognize there is some irony in this because I am trying to express an opinion through words on a page, rather than talking in person about it which is what this whole article is about, but just hang with me.  It is almost impossible to open an app on your smart device without being met with bad news or hate, so I have written this in hopes to create an alternative to that negativity, and would love to continue this in face-to-face conversation.

When I read the Word of God, every time God spoke, it brought life and it created something.  I never remembering reading a story in the Bible that when Jesus spoke it tore down or resulted in destruction.  In fact, the only times I remember Jesus spoke in a somewhat conflicting tone was to the “religious” leaders who confined the message of the Gospel and Love to a set of rights and wrongs.

The more I read the Word of God, the more I am starting to realize that the message of the Gospel is displayed through a simple concept.  That concept is RELATIONSHIP.  Relationship is birthed through community and sharing life with the people around you.  The longer that I walk with Jesus in my own personal life and read the Bible, the more that I am seeing that revelations came and come through the every day events.  Some of the greatest messages Jesus and His disciples delivered were not bound to a setting within a building called a “church.”  Rather, they realized that they WERE the church and the way they lived and carried themselves in their community spoke a louder message than anything delivered by a microphone in a building.  I believe that some of the greatest revelations that we can experience are when we enjoy life, slow down to spend time as a family of God, and have a daily pursuit to find joy in simplicity.

“I believe that some of the greatest revelations that we can experience is in enjoying life, and slowing down to spending time as a family of God and having a daily pursuit of finding joy in simple acts such as sharing coffee with family, or having dinner with someone that is different than you.”

Now, do not mistake my words, I am not advocating we neglect going to a local church building, as there is power that comes from gathering together with other believers and lifting up the name of Jesus.  However, I am challenging your thinking in maybe at some point we stop gathering with other believers at a building to see what we can get out of it, and we come with something to bring as an act of worship that has resulted in Divine encounter with Jesus at a job, hallway of a school, or in a prayer closet.

Be encouraged today.  That every day when you open your eyes, it is a fresh invitation from the Galaxy-Breathing God that we serve to be present in His creation, and see Him in every activity that we take part in.  God spoke and created the Earth and He called it GOOD.  In Genesis you can read this beautiful phenomenon of God speaking life-giving poetry over a dark and empty world, and in an instant there is creation, life, and wonder.  While brokeness does exist, I believe that there is still Holy Wonder to be enjoyed in this life.  One of those things is community with the people around you.

Share a dinner with someone, have a cup of coffee at a neighbor’s, serve at a local community outreach project, work a 9 to 5 job and preach the Gospel there, and when it’s necessary use words.  The every day, mundane things can very quickly change from obligations, to Holy invitations with a little change of perspective.

I hope this has encouraged you that there IS purpose in the Monday to Friday grind.  I hope this is given insight that we don’t have to wait until Sunday or an event titled “revival” but we can LIVE in a constant state of revival every single day because of what and who we carry in our hearts being Jesus.
