Good morning fam!
I hope that this Saturday is greeting you well, and that you are able to find rest and refreshment from the “hustle and bustle” of the work week! God is faithful! I just want to take a moment of your time this morning to encourage you!
The purpose of this read is simple. There is an unwritten rule or false idea that has seemed to develop over time in a lot of modern church, that if you are a believer in Christ, and you call yourself a Christian, then we must abandon the very thought of prosperity or surrender any success that is more than “barely enough”.
I am here this morning to tell you that there is NOTHING farther from the truth.
In Psalm 23 David begins to talk about this when he says “You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup runs over. SURELY goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”
Have you ever heard any of the following statements in your life?
-How many people could you feed with the money you payed for those shoes?
-You could have built a house in Africa with the funds you spent on that car!
While feeding hungry people and reaching people who are in need are important and essential in a Christian walk, I would like to pose the fact that GOD WANTS TO BLESS YOU WITH MORE THAN ENOUGH.
Look at the above verse again. It says “my cup RUNS OVER.” It does not say that God sprinkles a droplet in my cup. In ancient East, a full cup or over flowing cup, sent a message. If you were at a banquet, as long as the cups were being refilled, the party was to be continued. It gave the guests the idea that they were still welcome in the house. David states that MY or YOUR cup is running over in the House of God.
Simply put, you are WANTED at the banqueting feast of God. The celebration that gives MORE THAN ENOUGH, and the lifestyle that feeds and feeds and feeds.
Not only are you invited, but you are welcome to the King’s table while the enemies are there watching you feast. (see verse 5)
Maybe God isn’t blessing you the way that you would like to see in your life because we have allowed guilt keep us from asking! Look at 1 Chronicles 4:9,10. When Jabez ASKED, look what God did. “So God GRANTED HIM WHAT HE REQUESTED.”
Now! Let me clear a few things up, as I can sense some imaginations could run down a path of destruction with the perversion of the above statements.
If we are to walk in the blessing of God, opposition is to be expected. Whatever God starts, the devil opposes. In verse 5 of the Psalm we read earlier, look where the table was prepared, “IN THE PRESENCE OF ENEMIES.”
Second, I believe that God gives us the privilege of exercising a sound mind. The Word says “it is better to give than to receive.” This read is not to pose as a “golden ticket” to neglect giving to the needy, or forsake the principle of the tithe to the local church.
The goal IS however, to maybe open the eyes of the battled to see that after we have given BACK to God what He has led us to give, there is nothing wrong with enjoying the blessings of God!
If you don’t see the “blessings falling into your lap” as my rapper friend Chance puts it, I would encourage you to SAY IT, EVEN WHEN YOU DON’T SEE IT. Speak it! Consistent declarations of faith, I believe brings immeasurable blessing in due season.
-God is able to give us more than we ask think or imagine!
-Christ ABUNDANTLY pardons us with the gift of His grace!
ENJOY THE BLESSINGS OF JESUS TODAY!
